Anna Emerick-Biad is a third generation real estate entrepreneur. At the agent of 13 she began working in her father’s real estate and construction company as a secretary. One story her father likes to tell is when Anna found a home site for his customers. Mrs. Thompson, wanted to build a custom home in a part of town where there were no available lots for sale. Anna got on her bike and drove the neighborhood locating three empty lots. Her father taught her how to research the property owner at the courthouse. Subsequently they contacted the property owners and to their surprise one was willing to sell. Within a few months, the customer purchased one of the lots that Anna scouted out on her pink dirt bike. Mrs. Thompson to this day gives Anna credit for having located her dream home.
Within a few weeks of turning 18, Anna received her real estate license. While maintaining a full scholarship at NMSU, Anna began her residential real estate career. By the time she was 20 years old, she was among the top producing agents in Las Cruces. For several years running, she ranked among the top two agents in town for sales. In 2001, Anna won the Associates Choice Award.
Shortly after graduating from college in 2002, Anna opened her own real estate brokerage. Starting off with herself and a secretary, her company quickly grew into a thriving brokerage. Her first office was in a small home rented from her Grandmother. Her business prospered very quickly because of Anna’s growing reputation for service. She often went the extra mile for her customers. One customer recalls the time that Anna helped them re-grout their shower in order to meet a closing deadline. Many of Anna’s customers have become lifetime friends. Today Emerick Real Estate, Inc. is the second largest real estate firm in Southern New Mexico and occupies its own 7000 sq. ft. building. Anna is a non competing broker as her passion is helping her agents succeed. If you interview Anna’s agents, they will tell you that she is always eager to help them, lend a helping hand, and help them grow their business.
One of the largest hurdles Anna overcame was working full time and attending college at the same time. At the onset of her career, Las Cruces was dominated by an attitude of “old school” real estate. As a young professional and newcomer to the industry, Anna faced many challenging obstacles proving herself as a professional and expert in her field. She had many critics including some senior agents in the community that said she would never make it. Anna has now been noted by peers as having revolutionized the way real estate marketing and service is provided in Las Cruces. She has earned the respect of her peers and the community through her dedication and service. A more recent opportunity Anna has faced is intertwining her real estate career with personal life. In 2004, Anna married Chris Biad who she met on a blind date arranged by one of her customers. Anna is the mother of 2 year old Sara Biad and 2 month old Simon Biad.
