From rehabilitation counselor to real estate development, insurance personal/commercial lines representative and business owner, she has dealt with details and solved problems in many areas of customer service. Barbara’s experience in the workforce includes subdivision development, real estate sales, mortgage processing, rehabilitation social work and positions with New Mexico State University, Customized Training/DACC (CTP) and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC).
Barbara feels that working with the planning, coordination, marketing, implementation and follow up stages of various educational, work readiness, leadership, and business planning programs has been a challenge, an education and a pleasure. The opportunity to gain knowledge, plan objectives, share resources and ideas with numerous entities, departments, and profit/non-profit agencies, has enabled Barbara to build a wealth of information, develop insight, learn to empathize and gain the ability to appreciate the economics of practicality.
Barbara obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Michigan State University and Master of Arts in Counseling and Guidance from New Mexico State University as well as additional training in marketing from Clemson University and Chester Karrass negotiation training. She recently completed mediation training at Northwestern University in Chicago through the National Association of Realtors®. Barbara is a firm believer in continuing education.
On a personal level she enjoys hiking, photography, golf and tennis and has recently obtained American Sailing Association certification. Personal and business acquaintances describe Barbara as intellectually curious, funny, creative, professional, research oriented, loyal, dedicated, warm and interesting to talk to.
